If you think providing assistance with cosmetic procedures like giving BOTOX® and filler injections and giving patients the chance to look as good as they feel is something you’d be interested in, consider training to become a cosmetic nurse! Also known as the practice of aesthetic nursing or plastic surgery nursing, this job will have you working hand in hand with doctors to provide help to patients. With a BOTOX® training course and training in cosmetic nursing, you can truly make a real difference in how patients see themselves and feel about themselves. If this sounds like you, it all starts with making sure you get the right training and have the ideal core skills for a job like this. Here at the Aesthetic Mentor, we can make this dream a reality.
To get into cosmetic nursing, you’ll need to be able to stand for long periods and have a good bedside manner so you can make patients feel comfortable. Your job involves taking care of patients before, during, and after surgical procedures. You’ll be administering some injectable treatments yourself after training. Cosmetic nursing is a great job with a likelihood of very easily finding work.
You also need certain personal characteristics, including compassion, patience, and strong interpersonal skills. Attention to detail and public speaking skills are useful, but working as a cosmetic nurse will help build these skills. Something that is also important is to develop your technical skills, like using healthcare systems software and other programs. Shifts may be long and tough, so stamina is required.
Several different kinds of certificates or credentials can help you begin your career as a cosmetic nurse, and licensing restrictions and employment prospects may vary significantly based on the amount of experience and level of training you have. Undertaking training in specific skills like BOTOX® training also helps significantly boost your employability, showing you have skills in various fields of nursing.
Those with training in traditional nursing practices are at an advantage, as they simply require additional training to undertake cosmetic procedures, and the qualification of nurse practitioner allows the individual to perform procedures that are otherwise reserved only for doctors. Those who want to become cosmetic nurses can choose their training level and how far they want to advance in their career.
Cosmetic nursing is a truly rewarding career path with many options to choose from, so get in touch with us here at the Aesthetic Mentor in Waltham to find out more about the range of courses we offer. Contact us today to get started.
